MINNESOTA AGRICULTURE & ENERGY PARTNERSHIP
The Minnesota Agriculture & Energy Partnership is an alliance of citizens, government,
non-profit organizations and private companies working in support of Minnesota’s farmers and agri-business, rural retailers and other small businesses.
We support strategies and projects that contribute to the efficient, responsible and safest possible distribution of agricultural and petroleum products across the state of Minnesota.
Thank you MPCA!
Thank you MPCA for providing an open comment period and Tele-tow halls that allowed any citizen who wanted to weigh in to be able to participate in the Line 3 Replacement Discussion.
You helped keep us safe and didn’t limit us by our geography.
Thank you for all of your continued support!
Ag Needs Energy!!! It’s Time to Replace Line 3!
MINNESOTA NEEDS MORE CAPACITY TO SERVE FARMERS.
Agriculture, small businesses and towns across Minnesota are captive to the transportation systems in place, meaning that when one form of transporting goods is stretched to capacity and beyond, all available alternative means of transport are impacted. The most effective way to relieve this overwhelming pressure on infrastructure is to expand.
Currently, the tremendous production growth and demand for Canadian and North Dakota crude oil has resulted in pressure on our rail systems that are creating bottlenecks for other commodities and commerce. For example, 5000 oil tank cars cross our state weekly where there was virtually no equivalent demand just five years ago.
Farmers and small businesses need greater access to our rail system than is currently available; and, new crude oil pipeline capacity can help solve this problem.

PIPELINES ARE THE SAFEST AND MOST EFFICIENT METHOD OF CRUDE OIL TRANSPORTATION
Minnesota has always been a corridor for petroleum distribution and traffic. Over fifteen percent of the crude oil in the United States is shipped across the state via rail, trucks, and an efficient and safe network of pipelines.
The many miles of pipeline that currently serve Minnesota – and that have served that state for decades – safely and efficiently carry crude oil across the state to distribution points in Superior, Wisconsin and beyond.
Just-released industry-wide 2015 pipeline safety statistics indicate that an astonishing 99.999% of crude oil and petroleum product barrels delivered by pipeline arrive at their destination safely.
THE LINE 3 REPLACEMENT WILL DELIVER JOBS & TAX REVENUES: EFFICIENTLY AND SAFELY.
The Line 3 Replacement project is receiving support across the state because there are many benefits to shipping as much crude oil as possible through safe, efficient pipelines.
Line 3 Replacement will handle 760,000 barrels of oil each day –
These restored barrels will no longer be supplemented by train cars across the state, though cities.
Line 3 Replacement improves the business of small gas stations and petroleum-based retailers across the state –
Retailers of petroleum products benefit from more efficient, consistent supply.
Line 3 Replacement makes more rail assets available for Minnesota farmers –
More rail assets available means "more grain on the train."
Line 3 Replacement helps farmers, and the entire Ag industry –
More capacity to ship more grain will help co-ops, elevators and small communities.
Line 3 Replacement will create jobs along its 337-mile path –
People across the state will benefit from 8600 jobs created by the pipeline.
Line 3 Replacement will create thousands of additional jobs –
The $2.9 billion investment will drive massive equipment and service purchases.
Line 3 Replacement helps improve retail sales and service business opportunities –
Business communities across the state will benefit from the pipeline development.
Line 3 Replacement will pay $19.5 million annually in property taxes to local governments –
Each year, city and county governments will get big budget boosts from the project.
